Arived early to find the estuary "going off". Chris, I think it was, was out kiting but the wind was reading a steady F6-7 with F8 gusts.

As the tide was still quite low I waited a bit and went to have a look what it would be like off the Golf Course car park. Smooth and flat with 20 knots blowing off the Beach and more further off shore. That would have been an excellent speed course but I wasn't going out in an off shore wind alone.

After a walk I headed back down the estuary, the tide was now in but I waited a while longer before rigging up. Went for a 4.5m but after rigging found that the top panel had just died of old age so changed to my 5.0m before even getting wet.

Today was the first outing of my Fanatic Rip 92L wave board so I headed out to see how I got on with it. Took to it quite quickly and found that I could get in the straps quickly and just launch onto the plane before hooking in. Was really nice to have a smaller board (and fin 23cm) in these conditions.

The board was a bit more twitchy than I'm used to but was great for just using your feet to trim and was really controlable if the nose caught some air. A successful first outing ;-)

After a while Nick and Liam arrived. A good blasting session followed. Eventually the water got a bit on the shallow side so we headed upwind to the speed channel that is the usual place to sail in a NE. Some mad runs followed especially on starboard tack heading towards Dovey as you had to bear away to stay in the channel ;-)

A great session in the end. Didn't really go for any moves or many gybes, just enjoyed the blasting around getting used to the board whilst concentrating on keeping in control. Good stuff.
